whats the difference between lt1 and lt4/and other relatred questions

ok so i have a 94 camaro z28 a4. the car is boone stock. Now what i have been seeing alot is people doing LT4 mods. First thing is i want to know what cars came factory with the LT4. Second is what is the difference between an LT1 and LT4 intake? can an lt4 intake bolt on to an lt1 and now its an lt4? what about this LT4 KM (knock module?)i has heard people putting these on thier lt1s. what does that do , wouldnt it throw off the computer? sorry for the ignorance i am just wondering. i was always big on GM performance over aftermarket IMO also whats hp ratings on lt1 vs lt4s?

Re: whats the difference between lt1 and lt4/and other relatred questions

LT4 came in 96 vettes that were 6 spd, a hundred or so 97 camaro SS and 27 97 firehawks. It is rated at 330ish I believe compared to the LT1s 275-285. It has different heads, rockers, camshaft and intake manifold. No you cannot just bolt on an LT4 intake and make your car an LT4, it wouldn't even provide gains since the heads wouldn't match the intake. The LT4 knock module reduced false engine knock since its not as sensative, no it does not throw off the computer.

the hotcam is called the lt4 hot cam cause it is an upgraded cam shaft from the base lt4 cam,it is has a nice mellow lope at idle it pulls waaaaay harder with all the proper lt4 upgraded parts and a pcm tune, headers you will notice a small drop in fuel mileage between 1-3 mpg as i noticed but a small sacrifice to have a performance orientated combo that will hang with modded ls1s,especially on the freeway they wont be walkin away from you,at all!

If you really want to get technical, the LT4 crankshaft was slightly different also. It's no major change though.
