I spent alot of time researching this least week and it seems there are two heated factions ATI and Fluidampr. I read fluidampr went under at least one time. I've heard ATI is a good company overall, although I've also seen alot of 1000hp+ pulling trucks swear by Fluidampr. I was actually going to post a similar thread so see if there was any additional information since most of what I found was opinion.

I'm guessing I'd use whoever my engine builder recommended, that way if it came apart it would be on him.

Fluidampr never needs rebuilt, like they recommend with the ati after 8-10 years or whatever.. I have a Ati super dampner and im very satisfied with it.. Both are excellent..

Ive got a Fluidampr 10% UD crack pulley on my 99 Z28 and my engine runs smoother(less vibration) than with the stock crank pulley.

IMO, Fluidampr or ATI is you best bet.

The ATI damper will come with the damper and a new hub. A new ATI damper would not work with the stock hub. I don't have the part numbers handy but when I ordered mine if I remember correctly there are 2 to choose from, 1 is stock diameter, and the other is slightly smaller (underdriven) and requires a shorter belt - that is what I ended up with.

I went with the Fluidampr. I think its funny how ATI actually advertises that the fluid dampr works better under 7k rpms. (Look at ATI's PDF file and see the comparison graph) These motors don't really rev over 6k. Also the fluidampr doesn't have to be 'tuned'.

All LT1 dampers are neutral balanced. Doesn't matter whether your engine is internally or externally balanced.

Let's think this through.

You state you have an internally balanced LT1 engine. If that is the case, you need a neutral balance flywheel (or flexplate) and a neutrally balanced damper (it is not a balancer, just a damper). If you had an externally balanced LT1 engine, you would need a flywheel (or flexplate) with a balance weight on it, and a neutrally balanced damper (it is not a balancer, just a damper). Does not matter. You want a neutrally balanced damper.

If you had an externally balanced Gen 1 SBC, you would use a damper/BALANCER with a weight on it. But you have an LT1.
