Whats the best cam 4 me
Whats the best cam 4 me
Im stuck, the thing is, I wont be able to get a High stall converter for a while, so I got a 97Z A4, with LT Headers, No O2's, Homemade CAI, Im getting a cam this summer, I was thinking either a hotcam kit to get going and then change to a bigger cam later. On the other hand get the 966-Springs and some 1.6 Comp Mag RR's and the cc306, if anyone has a suggestion fill me in, ill no doubt get a madz28 tune. But Ive been talking to my friends and they all suggest the H/C kit because that will give me all i need and then i can get the tune and stall then later on grab a cc306? Im all open on this one, and as for gaskets can I use the RVT High Temp gasketmaker or do I need every individual gasket!
since it sounds like you have very specific wants with what you want the car to do. i suggest talking to bret bauer about a custom cam. his name on here is SStrokerAce. if you dont want to go with a custom cam for some reason i'm sure he'll be more than happy to recommend a shelf grind that will best fit your purpose as well as all the supporting hardware like springs, rockers pushrods etc. his whole aproach is to use the car as a system and from my dealings with him it works very well. his email is bret@bauer-racing.com i say since you dont have your heart set on anything shoot him an email and listen to what he suggests you wont regret it.
if your plans are to get a 306 eventually i would wait and do the job once. but if your not getting p&p heads i would stick with the hotcam or a smaller xe cam. maybe get the stall now and save up for a good set of heads and a 306 later. get the gasket set theres nothing worse than doing something twice cause of a leak.
well i was wanting to keep it relatively cheap as well, about 500 total or less would be nice lol, i dont have a few k's to invest yet, but i was thinkin the h/c because its got all i would need and a cam would be only 250 later on anyhow when i do decide to go bigger unless SSACE comes up with a better idea!
cam swaps dont cost 500 bucks unless you're getting hooked up. plan on at least 800 or 1000 if you plan on doing it right (tune, roller rockers, etc.) and don't plan on getting something smaller now and going big later, just wait and do it all, you'll be much more impressed and you wont have to do it twice.
