I took out my First Eaton in the 10 bolt. To many 1.6 60ft times I guess it last less then a year when the case cracked. Eaton replaced it no problems but I was already doing a 12 bolt by then so we just stuffed a Auburn Pro in. I sold it to a Friend and he broke the new one a few months later.

SO when we built the 12 bolt the only real option for a 33 splines and ABS was the EATON. That lasted 2000 miles and the Carbon Clutches let go. I am now running the old school Steel pack and 800LBS spring pack shimmed to around 1000Lbs.

I have 4000 Miles on it now and so far so good. But I always worry now

If I break this one I am going to see If I can get an Auburn pro built to fit with ABS. If not I guess I will be stuck with a Spool.

For racing and abusing I would say go with the Auburn pro and change the rear end oil every 9,000 miles

Good luck all!

The EAton PErformance differential is designed for just that. Drag racing,Track Racing, ETC.

Whats the difference on how the different posi units are. i.e. slp TO, Aurbun, and the eaton. Whats the advantages and disadvantages of each?

The Eaton one is for like driving around though... right? The racing was just a curious question... i'm not a real racer. I mean I do race, just not every day all day you know? If I see a challenge i'll definitely smoke his ***... L0L
I race right now with my 1993 Ford Escort GT... :-) I smoke Civics all the time... just goes to say about them.

Anyway, if you purchase the Eaton on a stock rear, is there anything else that should be changed while its being put in? I don't think I need a 12 bolt since I don't expect to hit the 400hp mark... Because if going Eaton will ease driving in the rain and snow, then I must purchase one!! L0L

First of all whats up with the YO all the time?

Second all your changing is the carrier unit. So that is all you really have to get unless you want to put better parts on there. The eaton posi is fine for regular day to day driving, but so are the others.

Third, yeah it usually don't take much to get most of those civics. I beat 2 out of the 3 i raced with my moms 02 dodge neon. Lol, its like a handicap race.

I dunno... i've been doing it for like 5 years and just haven't stopped... L0L

Anyway, so it'd be worth it for daily driving, they are all making a big deal like its the best, so why not get one thats better than the others you know? A little better never hurts anyone :-)
What is the name of the product in its entirety so I can do some background search on some pricing, etc... thanks

The Differential is every thing on a RWD car. What good is a powerful engine if you can't move it?

You can check them out at www.Yearone.com

IT made a considerable difference in the perfomrance of the vehicle. It's a very agressive unit.

the eatons are good for racing too. I can only wonder what kind of HP dude that broke his was running though.

In my 10 bolt that has the eaton, I abused it for over 2000 miles with all 320 horse. Like I said earlier with the rebuild im doing now, im shooting for 600-620 and throwing 100 sh n2o, so the 10 bolt is going to my dads 97 rs. If you are having problems onefly, you should look into the strange 12 bolt posi, ive never seen problems with those.

But if I throw on an Eaton rear posi thingy, i'll notice a difference when driving the rain and whatnot? I don't have near 400hp... its below 320 actually... does that matter?

the car will seem to pick up cleaner off the line. i also had a light hum in the rear, and after i changed the posi, it was gone. there is really nothing you will be able to do to get good traction in the rain/snow. the car in the snow is pretty much worthless. if you dont have a posi though, you might get a little better traction being thing both wheels have torque.

These things are freaking AWSOME IN THE RAIN. If one wheel is sliding out the other wheel grips and keeps the car straight.

Unhappy

All these positive posts regarding the Eaton Posi!! I did love mine for over 3 years. But the last time out at the Dragstrip ended the fun I had with the Eaton.. I hazed the tires out of the hole, Got off, Jumped back on & BOOOM!!!!! No more Eaton. I know it is a quality piece & I strongly recomend it. It had a lot of passes on it & would probably still be working if not for me trying to get a time eventhough I already spun out of the hole. But now it is time to step up to a real rear end.

eaton makes posis for a 12 bolts. 3 years doing drag runs on a 10 bolt, that is a testiment in itself.

Yes it is. Actually I think the Eaton would have held up if not for that 10 bolt. The pumpkin of the 10 bolt was so stretched that when I pulled the Eaton out to replace it with my stock unit, if literally just fell out. Usually those have to be pryed out. Now I am running on a loose rear that whines like a baby...
