what is wrong?

ok ive ready alot similar to mine, i just wanna see what everyone thinks it could be..first off i am a college student and i dont have that much money..but i want my car to be running strong by the summer. so ill tell you whats been going on..first off this problem has been consistant for around a year and hasnt gotten any better or worse. what i have noticed is when the car heats up and i accelerate at aobut 1800 rpms to 2000rpms its like the car doesnt wanna go if i keep firm pressure on the pedal it will slowly get past that and continue..but if i step on the gas hard it will continue sputtering or whatever you wanna call it through all rpms. also i have noticed that i hear a ting or ding or something from under the hood when i accelerate..i have no idea what that is. umm the service engine light comes on once in a long while but turns off fairly quick. i havent replaced anything cuase i dont have money to blow..i do know that the opti was replaced on the car once aobut 40,000 miles ago..which i knwo doenst mean much..so if anyone has an idea..and remember its been going on for around a year.thanks all help is appreciated!

check the plugs and wires, they are relatively cheap if they need replaced. maybe the noise could be them arcing?

if your check engine light came on you have a faulty sensor. Go to autozone and they will check it out for u for free and tell u which sensor is bad.

Could be that the EGR valve is sticking. You can take it off and check/clean it out. It won't cost you anything except the price of a gasket if needed.
