What would you pay for this engine?

I'm pulling the engine out of my wrecked car, mods in sig. What do you think this engine is worth. It only has 500 miles on it before it was wrecked. The only thing that is stock is the crank and rods but it has all been internaly balanced and has over $1,200.00 worth of machine work done to it. Thanks.

1,500? It only has 500 miles on it. I was thinking 2,500-3,000. You can't buid one for this.

Well if you were selling it I would say about 1500 maybe a little more. Factory new crate motors go for 3k, not used engines. The performance parts dont really add much to the value. You take a big loss on that kinda stuff.

It doesn't make sense that the performance parts don't add to the value. I've looked at performance crate LT1s and they are going for about 3000-5000. There is no way a stock engine will go for the same as an engine with performance parts. That and it only has 500 miles on it. It's not like a 110,000 mile engine. I have more parts into this engine than what's listed. Everything is new except the crank, arp rod bolts and other little things.

You can get more out of it IF you can verify the parts, reciepts and such and can find some way to get it to run so a prospective buyer can hear it.
Buying a modded motor without hearing it run or taking a persons word for the mods inside is like playing russian roulette.
Without the above things I would only give you what a stock motor goes for.
And yes you really can,t recoup the money you spend on mods. That is why alot of people return the car to stock and sell the performance parts seperate.
I know a guy who had a 94 Z witch was heavily modified and put out like 575 RWHP he sold the car for about 22k probably had closer to 50k in the whole car.

I have every reciept that has to do with this car. That is why I believe that I could get more for it. But now I'm thinking about putting it in a 3rd gen. that would make a hell of a sleeper.
