Well thats great news. I was pretty sure that was the problem... was it advanced or retarded?

Really though a CC306 or GM847 is going to make you smile. And the whole talk about custom vs shelf cam is right.. custom will make more power. However saying the difference is $50 isnt taking into account the super expensive beehive springs a BRE cam is likely going to need.

Most "shelf cams" started out their lives as "custom cams". It's just that by the time the cam companies have taken that custom and put it in the catalog, it's older and that cam was specifically designed for one motor package and if that is not repeated, then people think it makes less power than a "new" custom designed for THIER motor. We have several of our own grinds that Isky added to their catalog several years ago.

okay well ive decided that i think when the cam comes out its going to be replaced with a gm847, ive seen a lot of good results with it, and i think that itll keep my powerband no higher than 6200 in my 383 where im shiftin anyways. now i know its hard to say but is 20rwhp a reasonable gain in my car going from a cc305 to a GM847? if not i probably wont mess with it and just save up for a 100shot of nitrous or something because i cant really justify cam R&R, for the price of new springs and cam, new tune, plus the hassle of labor, not to mention worse street manners, if i cant gain around there hp wise.

I wouldn't imagine an 847 being too bad in a 383.
