What would cause a delay in ignition?

My car has been struggling to start it moist whether. I figured that the opti has a crack in it which is causing that. But, today (and I couple other similar trips) I went to the store, then on the highway for about 2, gased up. And when I got in and turned the key to the on-position, nothing happend. I didn't hold it there very long cuz it usualy starts right up so I wasn't expecting it. So I do it again and nothing happens for about 1/2 a second, then it cranked for about 2 seconds then finlay fired up.

What would cause that? And do you think it's related to my troubles starting in moisture before?? Thanks (btw it's winter and cold. So very dry, no moisture in the air)
