As far as installs, if you live in Texas or anywhere close to it you can find REPUTABLE people to install your heads, long tubes, cam, valvetrain, etc for great prices if you aren't able to do them yourself...

There are many options for getting to 330-350 rwhp.

1) port your stock LT1 heads and toss in a decent sized cam with supporting valvetrain and do full exhaust (ie. 3" header back)

2) purchase the LT4 conversion kit

As far as N2O goes, if CORRECTLY installed, you can run about a 100-150 shot safelt without any bottom-end work.

As far as price, I'd go with option 1. That's what most people here are doing and we have many good resources for you and people to get ahold of if you wish to go this route. Who cares about bragging rights...as long as your car is built correctly and it runs consistent times...

well if option one is cheaper and I can figure exactly what I would need, then that would be they way I would go. I would just have to know exactly what to get

Now we need to know what your aspirations for the car are. Do you want a daily driver? Do you want to build it as a car that runs at the track all the time? Do you have a daily driver or is this your daily driver?

This is my daily driver. I won't be taking it to the track except to only be curious what it will run. I am looking to have 330-350 RWHP. Not too much, but it will be enough to really push it when I want/need to.

If you're looking for something relatively mild on LT1 heads, check out the CC 305 or the HOT cam, with the 305 being a bit bigger than the HOT cam. You can find the HOT cam kit for around $500 and it includes everything you'll need (rockers, springs, cam, etc)

Check out www.cmotorsports.com, even e-mail them at sales@cmotorsports.com and let them know what you want to do. If the HOT cam kit isn't for you, then they can advise a set-up and sell it to you as a sort of kit...

As far as head porting goes, e-mail Lloyd Elliott at NightTrain66@msn.com and let him know what you want to do. Contact him after you talk to Combination Motorsports and let him know what cam was advised to you and he can match a porting job to suit and match that cam.

sales@cmotorsports.com for cam and valvetrain nees
&
NightTrain66@msn.com for head work

Good luck!

A great way to research what others have posted, try using the search function in LT1 Tech. Just type in some key words and you can find what others have posted about what you're looking for. Many others, along with myself, have been in your shoes and you can find some great tips and ideas using the search function...

For money reasons, would it be ok to do just a HOT cam kit, and get it tuned, then get the heads ported later on? I would by some more stock heads, probably used, and get them ported while I can still drive my car around.

Yea you can run a HOT cam on stock heads...I'm about to install a bigger cam than that and run it on stock heads until I get another set ported...

You'll even turn some decent numbers with just the cam and valvetrain done...even moreso if you have full exhaust done...

As long as you keep emissions hook-ups and your cat, yes it will...

the Hotcam has been known to pass emissions!
stop procrastinating and talk with CMS they might be able to set you up with a cam kit that will make more power then the hotcam and possibly still pass emissions,
i say possibly because i dont have to worry about emissions and therefore have never looked into it....

Yea I don't have to worry about emissions either...as long as my folks stay out here in Navasota I can keep my home address and get my emissions sticker here even after I move to Ft. Worth...

I can't complain
