What will I need?

I just want to be able to hit a "respectable" 350RWHP, on a stock LT1. What would be the cheapest way to do that on a daily driven car that would need to pass emissions every year? How much money would I be looking at? I was thinking maybe starting with a basic Lt4 conversion....what do you guys think?

If you have the money, go with the LT4 conversion. That will give you 350rwhp easily, provided that you have all the bolt-ons + full exhaust. Good luck.

Yeah I want to stay away from N2O. The car will be driven a lot, and i'm gonna want that power there all the time. I'll take a look at CMotorsports, but for now the LT4 from the obvious GM Parts Direct is what I will be saving up for. What kind of times would someone be looking at with just the LT4 conv. kit and a full exhaust? IF I were to go with Cmotorsports, I guess I would just be looking at their head/cam packages for LT1's, what stage would be best for the mid 300RWHP...would stage one be able to do it? what kind of difference would I see from Stage 1 and Stage 1X?

lt headers(shorties would do also)
cam and 1.6rr(has to be decent sized)
dyno tune
cutout
that should do it. Or dam close

you dont need heads to hit say 350rwhp! do a search on it you'll see plenty of threads that will prove it
the GMPP lt4 conversion is a waste of money! well ok not a waste of money since it has everything needed for a complete swap but i mean the money can be better spent elsewhere to achieve your goals! do a search on that also lol you'll see the consensus on that too
a simple well chosen cam "kit" and assoc. boltons will get you to your HP needs and you'll have extra cash in your pocket for the strippers or for the mechanic to do the work if you dont do it yourself

THe LT-4 conversion is a good Banger mode if your just aiming for around 330-350hp. If your interested in the kit because you want something super agressive with allot of power you wont find it in the LT-4 combo. THe only really good thing about the Kit are the LT-4 heads. Just buy the LT-4 heads and get them ported out....You can go allot further if you choose a different cam and throw some PFG 1.6's on. You can scoop the Intake off ebay for like 170.00 I see them on there allot.

But you said respectable 350. LT-4 Conversion + LT's can get you there.

and that's all I really want...330-350 at the wheels.
Anyone have any other ideas? any input on the previous Combination Motorsports question? would they be cheaper than an LT4 conv. kit? if it is, then I would probably get that and pick up an LT4 intake...

most definately cheaper!!!
cam "kit" from them with EVERYthing you will need somewhere in the $600 ballpark, timing chain $100, pushrods $40, gasket set $80, some good lifters CC 'R' series $200
GMPP LT4 topend conversion $2000 ballpark, you do the math
granted you wont have the bragging rights of saying "hey i have an LT4 conversion" which technically its not anyway but you will have the bragging rights of saying "hey its just a cam plus bolton car"
not only will your car run the same if not better, it will sound better and you'll have extra cash to pay for all your new found speeding tickets

EDIT: LT4 intake will not work with stock heads without machining, it is also not needed
the search button is your friend

Well I'm new to the internal engine build up. because I don't know too much about what would be the best things to get, and what exactly to get, I would assume that just getting an entire LT4 kit would be ok although I would have to have someone install that for me. I'll try e-mailing CMotorsports about what I may need because I would be on the phone way too long with them Although I would like to know everything about it, i'm still learning and am eager to learn more.
