Hey i'm thinking of getting a VRE 396 comp short block with cloyes timing chain and AFR heads ported by LE and some cam custom made for it like a LE3 at least. and to top that of a Super vic Intake with the elbow to a 58 mm dual TB just like the one in my current Lt1 intake. Also have supporting mods. Is 450 + rwhp achievable? Is the car going to be streetable? That's why i want a 396 instead of the 383 to make the car a bit more streetable. I'm I right or will the 396 not help?

 

It should put out 500+RWHP if it's right.With a stall converter and gear it should be OK. I'm not saying ya can load it up and go to CAL., but short trips and around town it should be OK. Ya will have to look for high wear as this isn't a 50,000 mile engine.

 

Ok I also have a M6. How will it feel day to day compared to a stock bottom end lt1 with AFR 195cc and cc306 cam and 3.23 gears with the m6. (Those are the stock gears of the A4 but broke my 4.1 and at the time i could only put those back i do love the super overdrive of doing 90 around 2k rpm.)

 

It will depend on your "feel". It should drive good,but may take a little learning to get it down pat.
I wouldn't be conserned about it and adapt yourself to what it needs.
Will ya have to rev it to 4000 to pull off? NO, if it's tuned right. Will it idle in 4th gear at 100RPM's? NO it wasn't made to do that. Will it go around a corner without shifting gears? NO,unless ya are Steve Kinser(WOO sprint car driver).

Ya need a 4.10 gear for that engine and a 12 bolt at least.
