What type is this NGK plug......
What type is this NGK plug......
I am looking at the plug that my engine shop used when they broke in my 396. Here is the info on the plug: NGK R BCPR6E. Anyone know something about it, say compared to the popular TR55? I am toying with the idea of switching out the Bosch Platinums I have for a set of NGK's. Any light that can be shed on this would be appreciated.

OK, thats cool. So whats the popular one that most of the LT1 guys use, is it the TR55's? How about one thats 1 heat range colder than stock? I see you are from Sugar Hill, ever stop by Warren Johnson's shop?

The TR55 is the one most LT-1's use. however there is a NGK plug that people with NOS use cause it's a colder plug.... I'm not sure this is the name so don't hold me to it "TR6"
If it helps any I use the TR55
If it helps any I use the TR55
Re: What type is this NGK plug......
there atre 2 types of NGK tr55 plugs I think, the G-power and V-power series. The ones you want are the V-power, it should have the part number somewhere on the packaging NGK TR55VP.

Be careful about what plugs fit ...and what plugs work well for each application. When I had the Edelbrock BBC heads off my truck engine I noticed that a set of Iridium tipped plugs from my wife's Lexus RX300 fit perfectly (i.e. depth, threads, etc) but I am not sure I would run them do to such factors as appropriate heat range or other technical reason. You would be well served by doing a careful search on this board for plug that work for individual applications.
