What tool for opti screws?

I got a new opti from auto zone. It turns out that it is only part of it. I have to take the cap off the old one. I cant find the tool to take out the screws. They are an inverse torx #4. I bought a 1/4 inch drive socket that was #4 from snap-on and it will get 2 of the screws but the other 2 or recessed. How does everyone else take these apart? Thanks.

I bought the inverted torx deep socket set from snap-on, it was 5 sockets. The sizes needed for the opti were in the set, I think it was like 55 bucks for the 5 sockets. in my 2 year old catalog it had a caption under the picture that said "designed especially for the ABITS distributor." (Angle-Based Ignition Timing System) GMs actual name for the opti. do not destroy or overtighten those screws, they are triobular and some really, really screwed up thread that you will NOT be able to find. been there.... Went to ace and a nuts/ bolts/ manufacturer / distribution center. I conviently lived about 8 feet away from it at the time

I managed to pull mine apart with needle nose pliers. Took a little while, but otherwise easy...the bolts are so small that they are not terribly tight.

Easiest way is to take a screw out of the throttle body plate, double nut it, and use vice grips on it[it'll take the dist cap screws off...]
If you need to do the rotor I believe those are T9 torx [T8 will work but is 'loose']

The socket I got from snap on truck worked for all four screws. Mine cost 9 bucks. Those guys are usually pretty cool. Take the opti with you and see if they got a deep socket #4 that you can use. Good luck.

don't worry, if you break a bolt you can use a drywall screw like the guy did on my buddies car....

I removed a torx screw from an old carburetor and attached pair of vise grips on the threads... Stuck the screw onto the reverese torx heads and it came right off with no problem.
