Question What tires???

I just finished a whole engine re-build and did cam heads and some more lil stuff. I am now looking for some new tires. This car is my daily driver and i need something other then drag radials. I also want something affordable but will still hook up on the street when needed. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 right now and they look good and hook ok but really pricey. Dont want to have to buy multible sets in a year. Please give me suggestions on what are good. I expect to be pulling over 400 when all is said and done on a dyno so i need to put that to the ground.

so you got a head and cam car, and you want an affordable tire, thats good for all around driving, yet will hook 350-360 rwhp on the street. wouldnt we all? its all about comprimise, but i do agree on the firehawks or kdws, great all around tires. but with good launches and head and cam, i wouldnt try doing holeshots on the street, lol. prorac1

are the 555Rs good for everyday? and are they worth the lack of tread life for the traction in comparrison to the firehawks. I'm not asking for miracles with these tires just something that will decently hook up with the power i'm puttin out. Also how about wet traction? Someone said they use the 555Rs everyday, what about rain? and how are the firehawks in the rain?

Nitto Nt555 ExtremeZR, $170 same tire as drag radial with 2x the thread. How many miles, I have not been able to wear them out yet.

I have never worn through a new set of drag radials. I had 245s on my 16" wheels before I sold them they had about 50% tread at 5k miles. My 315s only have about 1k miles on them so they are pretty new.
The Nitto dragradials tend to wear out in the middle first though. if you decide to go with them you might keep them at 22-24psi for the 16s. I keep my 17"s at 18psi.

BTW, just food for thought but there was a post on LS1tech about how long ET Streets lasted on the street and some guys were getting 8k miles out of them!

I have Yokohama AVS ES 100's and i like them a lot. They actually have pretty good traction. But i don't know how well they will hook at the strip. They aren't very expensive either.

Stick with these man. They're an amazing tire. My buddy has them on his LT1 3rd gen, and I love how they ride and hook.

I just put on a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3's they are awsome, i can launch without spin, and drive in rain without a problem so far, they are much better than the crappy Goodyear T/R my car previously had. How quick are you going thru the F1's? I need to stop burnin out on mine, i have done a few quick ones in the last week, its a bad habbit.
