What is this thing?

hey guys, i'm taking my harness off my engine getting ready for an engine swap, there is this vaccum solenoid looking thing on the driver side, one vac line runs from the intake goes into the solenoid and down to a AIR check valve. Connector seen in the picture goes down to the AIR pump into a female/female two sided connector with the middle of the connector has wires going into the actual pump, the other side has a male connector with wires running into the driver side fender near the heatshield under the ABS controller. What is that wire connecting to in the fender? Also I'm getting rid of AIR so can i get rid of that solenoid and wiring all together? Thanks all

Heres the pic.
