What stall?
Id change those gears up to atleast 323 or 342 if your watchin your gas mileage before the stall...I wouldnt go any lower then a 3000 stall...i had a 2400 on my 97 and it blew and ive heard others say a 2800 was way too mild also
I thought a torque converter and a stall converter are the same thing. A TC wil stall up to a certain RPM. Damn if I know. lol.
The stall part is used to determine where your power is. So if I am starting to make all my power at about 3400 then a 3200 stall would be good b/c it puts me right near my power.

A stall converter and torque converter are the same thing. Most factory stalls are "low" around 1800 I believe or lower. A higher stall is built "looser" than normal. Someone with more technical experience can give us all the correct terminology but here are the basics. A looser converter ( High stall) wont fully engage until it advertised stall speed( theoratically anyways). What this does is let your car get into its power band quicker much like a lightened flywheel. It also keeps you in your powerband better as it doesnt drop as many rpm's in between shifts. The stator or multiplier (2.5 in the first post) is exactly that. That is a guage of how it multiplies the torque the engine produces. I went with a 2.1 since I occassionally see a street light rendevous. A 2.5 will need some nittos or DR's to hook but will give you maximum enjoyment.
Like stated earlier 3.23 or 3.42's are better than the 2.73's because you wont drop as many rpm's between shifts keeping you in your power band. My personal opinion for a street driven car with stall is 3.42's or 3.73's.
I have a 3200 Midwest converter with a 2.1 stator and it is my best mod. I absolutely love it but cant hook for Sheet.
There is more to this such as Brake stall, etc. but that should clear things up a bit. :P

If you want to know exactly how it works go to www.howstuffworks.com and type in torque convertor.
