What Are Some Good Upgrades for LT1's That Can Be Had From LS1 Cars?

There are a lot of cosmetic stuff people have done, like front clips and consoles, but I am talking about stuff that is a performance upgrade.

Things like the LS1 to LT1 front brake swap, or the LS1 driveshaft. What are some other things that you guys have swapped onto your cars to increase performance?

I want to try to swap in a LS1 plastic gas tank, but i am sort of hoping someone else will try it first so I don't have to be the guinea pig on that one.

LOL, yeah, the engine would be a good mod.

What about the radiator? Would that be any better, or would it even work?

Are the electric fans any different, or would those be any better than LT1 fans?

I've not heard that they use a different fan or radiator but they might. My car runs plenty cool though with the lower stat, csi and fan programming, I don't think a different radiator would make any difference. Actually I just added the CSI and it still runs the same temp, it stays just a hair above 160.

i can't think of any other off the top of my head. however, i was told the aluminum drive shaft gave an extra 10 horsepower. i don't know how accurate that is though.

for the rear brakes, you will need the entire axle. they have a dofferent offset(?) and will rub on the axle if not changed

An idea

The LS1 camaro's rack and pinion setup is a 16:1 ratio, and the LT1 is a 14.5:1 or maybe 14:1 I'm not for sure but I know it's close to that. Anyways, for quicker steering response than what you have now, you could just switch out the units. I was told by a guy who works at a junkyard that F-body guys were buying the newer versions for replacing the older ones but improving somewhat at the same time.

Have not heard that about the ratios. I have heard people say that the angle where the intermediate shaft bolts up to the rack was a little different.

not to knock anyone, but 14:1 is a quicker ratio than 16:1, just FYI.
I'm just digging around cause I need a new rack, but I have found no indication of people "upgrading" to a quicker ratio. Mine is about 2 1/4 turns of the steering wheel lock-to-lock, which translates to, IMO, some pretty quick steering already.

Much better than my stock Jeep, which was 20:1, which came out to 4 1/2 turns lock-to-lock. Cornering was like driving a tractor. that I upgraded to a variable box(from 17:1 in the middle to 14:1 on the edges), much nicer at about 3 1/2 turns lock-to-lock.
