what should i replace?

ok... so i've got an unvented opti with probably 130k on it.

i'm rebuilding the motor, so i've got everything apart. just for fun, i pulled the cap off my opti. the cap and rotor are in very rough shape. infact, i'm not sure how there wasn't a miss. the optical sensor is clean, and the bearing is tight.

this is pretty much the only part i have left to buy. i should be assembling the motor tomorrow. i'd like to have the car running this week.

basically... what should i do?

should i just replace the cap and rotor? if so.... where would i buy them? neither pep boys or autozone had a cap & rotor.

should i buy a new unvented opti?

should i convert to a vented opti?

when i started, i was going to switch to the LS1 coils.... but it's pretty much at the end of the project here... so the funds are a little tight.

i'm worried that if i convert to a vented opti that things will snowball on me, like everything else i do. see... if i go vented, i might as well get a double roller timing chain. if i do that, i'm going to have to get an electric water pump..... all in all, this would probably cost me $500+ .... i'm not looking to spend that kinda cash in this area of the car.

anywho... give me your opinions on what i should do.

Vented or not-vented, i would replace the opti. Something you will not regret. The price on one isn't too bad compared to the trouble of replacing it later.

While you're at it you might wanna consider getting a new timing chain put it.

changing the opti is cake.... i'm not worried about that. last one i did for someone took 45 minutes.... start to finish. i'm thinking if there isn't anything wrong with my optical stuff.... why should i change it?

grip - i have a new timing chain, just not new gears. (the chain is only like $20)
