This particular cam (except on a 114lsa) with homeported heads peaked @ 5900rpm. I then added ported heads and it peaked @ 6k and lost 7rwhp by 6.2k which isnt bad. This cam will be @ 6k though like bunker mentioned.

As far as the hotcam, those cars here with similar mods to me trap about 4-5mph less. If I was a betting man, I'd take the car with the XE230/236 in a manual tranny car. For some reasons, I have seen some nice times with auto hotcammed cars (mph isnt there), but the et is good.

My car pulls quite nicely past 6k rpm with an XE cam.

My 306 makes more power after 5800. Follow the RPM chart of a particular cam.

304 is 1000-5000
305 is 1500-5500
306 is 1800-5800

If you have ported heads expect the rpm to go up a couple hundred RPM's depending on the porting.
1.6 Rollers give another 50 RPM's.
Free flowing exhaust gives about 60 RPM's
Remember these are rough guess-timates so a cam in it's stock form gives that range, but when combined with the other factors like better heads and exhaust you can achieve a lot more RPM meaning more power higher.
