What should i do with my lt1.... heads and cam?
Its got 130K miles on it and I was thinking of taking out the engine and hot tank it and replace all the internal parts with new ones such as the pistons, rods, crank, etc.

I was thinking of rebuilding it, port heads and get arms and rockers, lt4 hot cam, and longtubes. What else do you reccomend for the full potential? Would I have to port the intake and get a bigger throttle body? Please give me your advice. Thanks
Mike

My car is feeling very sluggish, and I want to make it pull very hard, I want a car that will compete with the top end cars. Im not spending to much money on this becuase Im getting a vette anyways so I wanna be smart about this.

If your going to get a Vette anyways...you might as well save the money you were going to spend on the rebuild and by a few mods for the Vette when you get it.

Well you asked for an opinion...so here are mine...

1. The LT1 is a fairly rock-solid motor. As long as it has had regular oil changes and hasn't been severly abused with nitrous or a SC, then the block itself should be in fairly good condition well into 100k miles, if not closer to 200k miles (or more). Honestly, I wouldn't spend the $$$ on rebuilding the block unless something was wrong with it (bad rings, cracked piston, etc) or you were planning on a high-power setup like a stroker 383/396, 8lb+ supercharger, etc. Just put on a set of high flowing heads along with a good cam (LT4 hotcam, CC305, XE), CAI, a good set of headers and cat-back and add in some PCM programming and you should be very satified with the results. Your selections depend on your intentions for the car - durability, reliability, etc.

2. If you're getting a vette for the sake of getting a vette, then I wouldn't bother upgrading your Z. I'd just save the cash to help pay for, or upgrade, the vette you'll be buying. Some people would rather buy a vehicle that is stock rather than modified. So save your money for the vette.

3. An f-body can be modified to hang with, if not beat, a stock vette for much much less $$$ than a vette would cost. F-bodies are cheaper in cost, cheaper to insure and usually cheaper to mod than a vette.

My worthless opinions....
