what should i do??
what should i do??
my 94 lt1 camaro is bone stock other than the k@n air filter. i want to fix my baby up to become a very powerful car! what do you guys think my first mod should be??
Re: what should i do??
headers was also what i was thinking. i was trying to find some on ebay but all the long tubs seem to be illegal. are headers a pretty easy upgrade to attach to my car? ohh, and i for got to mention that i had a flowmaster exhaust already. not sure what serise though. what do you think my second mod should be.....i have about 1000 right not to get rid of.
Re: what should i do??
I'm getting ready to put my headers on with true duals and from what I under stand they are a major pain in the @ss and it is up to a 10 hr. job but it should be worth it. The next thing I would do is small things like under drive pulleys, cold air intake, mass air flow senser, intake elbow, ect. or just put it on the bottle and give it a 125HP spray
Re: what should i do??
i was also thinking about porting the intake and heads and also getting a 54mm throttle body. but i am not sure if that would be a good mod at where my lt1 is at performance wise. how much would it be to install the headers? i was thinking of doing it myself but i am not good with weilding.
Re: what should i do??
You could put the headers on your self and take it to a muffler shop and spend anothe 250$ or so (depending on size of pipe type of muffler no cat. or cat. true duals or just a y-pipe and a cat-back) and get the rest of the exhaust done.
Re: what should i do??
Install the headers yourself and buy the matching y-pipe. Then, spend very little money at the muffler shop having them connect the y-pipe to your existing exhaust.
You can get emission friendly long tubes. The only reason they are "illegal" is because they don't have the emissions hook-ups.
Search for headers using the search function on this website. You'll find tons of information.

Re: what should i do??
headers first, they are not to bad to do if you are mechanically inclined. remove y pipe, steering linkage, maybe starter(i forget). I had to lift my engine on the drivers side to get em in....this was in my driveway not a lift.
2nd, get a new cold air intake setup. dont get pulleys or maf sensor, save your loot to get better things, like rear gears or something.
I think a great upgrade that should have been done at the factory is the aluminum driveshaft. I got mine on ebay from a salvage yard. I paid around 100 bucks and it was perfect(1 hour install at the very most). The weight difference is tremendous.

i have awesome patience and i have an ''ok'' mechanical sence. i am sure i can do it i just need to know how. is there any weilding involved?? another question i had was......my buddy told me i should also get an x pipe for the exhaust...is that a good idea??

Re: what should i do??
yo give u a heads up. if ur car is rusted on the undercarriage, your header install is gonna be a PITA.
took me an another guy 2 LONG days. it was not fun. it was a slow process, alot of patience was needed.
if its an auto, look into a stall converter. depending on what u get, parts/labor will run you 700-1000.
cai, good bang for the buck.
underdrive pully, tb bypass, lt4 knock module, ewp, etc
