A stall converter is just like a torque converterexept the car wont move untill a certain RPM (only when you are brake torqueing it((pressing the brake and the gas at the same time)) I've heard if you put a 3000 stall on an A4 you will drop at least a .5 second in the 1/4 mile so with long tubes and exhaust a computer tune and a big stall you will be looking at 13.4 sec. or so depending on your rear end gears.

Whoa, you're way off. The stall converter acts more like a slipping clutch than an on/off switch. I've had better results letting the converter "flash" from an idle or 1500 rpm. When you are at part throttle, it will feel like you're slipping the clutch, but at full throttle, it will be like you revved it up and dropped the clutch. It's easier on the rearend and tires than a manual though. I picked up .6 going from a 2.0 60ft to a 1.76 60ft in the 1/4. I had a hotcam and went from 12.8's to 12.2's.

I would hope the car would run in the 12's with those mods.

I didn't think exhaust and a stall would drop a second off your time thats saying that the exhaust droped at least 4 tenths but I do think I was off saying 13.4 more like 13.1 a stock LT1 w/ a computer tune runs a 13.9 w/ the best of drivers the most Ive heard a stall doing is 6 tenths so to get into the 12s so that means your droping at least 4 tenths with headers y-pipe and a cat back call me crazy but that seem a little high and thats asuming he is the best driver and gets the best results out of every mod

a stall converter is the same thing as a torque converter except it lets it slip like a clutch so if on e bay it says a 2500 torque converter it is the same thing as a 2500 stall (or 3000 2800 and so on (this is the RPMs the motor has to make to move the car but once it gets over that you get the full power of the motor at that RPM)) and my personal favorite gears are 3.42s or 3.73s I'm going w/ 3.23 because im getin a hellava deal

Long tubes and exhaust will help tremendously, and can net the car a .2-.3 quicker et, alone.
A "big" stall can drop times dramatically. .5-.6 quicker et
Just gears alone can drop the car .2-.3, depending on what you want to go with.
And, finally, a computer tune, with these mods, can help some. .1 quicker

I had my car down to 13.3's with some boltons (still stock exhaust manifolds) and a custom tune. If I had a stall, I would have been well into the 12's.

So, yes, with those mods, you can drop a second off of your 1/4 mile et. You also need sticky tires to hook up with the stall.

I forgot to add that GM Motive gears are very nice. I like mine.
