what should i do with $5,000?

ok so i recently bought this little toyota 4x4 to commute back and forth to work and it has brought me nothing but trouble...and i can't stand driving the thing...i just want back in my TA. so i was talking to some of my buddies tonight and they're trying to convince me to sell the truck for $5K (it's worth that much) and put all the money into building the TA since that's what i've always wanted to do. but then it's also gonna be my daily driver so i'm kinda sketchy on the idea. what would you guys do...build the TA or take the money and go buy something with good gas mileage and let the TA sit some more?

I'd let the TA sit and buy a sportbike. They're faster (mine will do a low 10)and good on gas.

I would get a Head/Cam, daily driver, with good clutch for around $2500 and save the rest of the $5000 and enjoy driving the TA. But, that's only me.

If you just want your TA as a daily driver, I would only invest in it. If you don't have a need for 2 cars, then don't spend money on two cars.

If you are going to use the TA as a daily driver, I would not try to make it that fast. If its not going to see the drag strip, then you don't have to spend $2500 on a rear end, you don't have to get a super-strong clutch. I would not even recommend a heads/cam swap. Anything over 300rwhp and you'll just be spinning tires. I've had a heads/cam TA for about a year with a gm847 cam as a street car. It is no fun except for the cool sound of the big cam. I can't really race anything on the street because it is dangerous to street race and I spin my tires through 4th gear. If you were going to drive around with drag tires and a big rear end, then there would be a point to making extra power with one of these cars.

I would take the money and buy something else. Sure you can build up your TA, but 5 grand will run out pretty quick and with all the extra power, you run a greater chance of breaking other things, such as your rearend. If this is your daily driver, I'm sure you don't want that.

For a grand you can find a decent beater that will get you where you need to go. Use the rest to up your power.
