what rotating assembly would you go with?
what rotating assembly would you go with?
I'm starting a build up for my LT1 and i'm going w/ a ATI procharger w/ 12-15lbs of boost on it. the car sees about 3000-4000 miles a year w/ some ocasional trips 200-300 miles long. what rotating assembly would you go with? thanks

Re: what rotating assembly would you go with?
I voted the 383 with 5.7 rods. With that much boost, you will need pistons in the area of a -30cc dish to get the compression down to a point where street gas is an option. The shorter rod won't be anything that you will notice, and it will give the best compression height of all the setups that you listed.
Re: what rotating assembly would you go with?
The worst choice is clearly the 396 with 6" rods. That means a compression height of just a little over an inch. This is not comaptible with the pistons you need to run high boost on pump fuel (i.e. low compression) and the thick ring land needed.
