What to replace first at high mileage
Hey guys, I'm out to buy a 94 Camaro (just regular 'ol 6 cylinder coupe, for gas and insurance reasons since i'm still in high school), anyways, the car that I'm nabbing has 160k miles on it! I figured I was going to mod the heck out of it anyways so the high mileeage wouldnt be too bad since it runs strong still at the moment (LT1's can sure take a beating!).
So my question to you guys is, what one or two pieces should i replace first, just to prevent it from breaking down on the side of the road and get a few extra ponies outta it
. Was thinking maybe new heads n gaskets. (LT4 of course). Maybe at this high of mileage the crankshaft would be more likely to be brittler? Camshaft perhaps? Pistons? Rods and bearings?
I dont have all the money in the world, but since I'm getting a car with 140k on the clock I've got a few extra $$$ laying around (I thought about getting one with less mileage, but that wont help me learn more about my car/cars in general now would it
). Anyways, would love your guys' input!

well since I was pretty stoked about getting a new car anyways, and there being several in the area for sale, may as well get a Z and spend the extra $$$, guess I'll stick to new plugs and plug wires for time being
does it have 140 or 160,000? Really doesn't matter though. My Z had 153,000 miles on it when I bought it. All that has gone wrong is head gaskets. They hold up well if you take care of them. Before you even think about modding it. Make sure that all the basics are there so that you have a clean pallette to start with. Start with plugs, wires and all fluids.
You should be happy with it.
