IGNITION fuse under hood keeps blowing...(formerly injector fuse pull thread)

Is it just the one "injector" fuse on the drivers side fuse box there? Or is there more to it than that?

i think there is 2 fuses.

there should be one fuse per bank, 1,3,5,7 are on one and 2,4,6,8 on another.

Or just pull the injector harness clips for each injector

Unplug the opti and they wont fire, and neither will the coil/plugs. One single easy access connector.

Naw I need the Opti/Delteq TO fire...but I don't want to keep spraying fuel til I get spark...I could unplug each injector but that's a PITA. Where's the other fuse then?

There should be two injector fuses. One for right bank, one for left bank.

I've only got one injector fuse there...

But, what the problem is, is that my "IGNITION" 10A fuse up in the fuse box under the hood there keeps blowing.

As soon as I turn the key to "RUN", BLAM there goes the fuse again.

If you unplug the fuel pump relay, you can accomplish the goal. The relay is on the drivers side kick panel right underneath the deal pedal (on the firebirds anyway), and that keeps the injectors from firing because there is no fuel in the lines and the rail isn't pressurized. Many do this to prime the oil pump before initial firing of the engine.

there should be 2 injector fuses in the box under the hood.... as far as the ingnition fuse, did you tap into the pink wire that goes to the coil? When I first put my 383 in a while back, I had my electric water pump powered off the pink coil wire. I had temporarily wired it without a relay, and when I reved the engine it blew the ignition fuse. I am not familiar with how the Delteq hooks up, but maybe it is drawing too much on the ignition circuit.

Good luck, I know youll keep us posted

Yeah it's all good now...it's a moot point...it runs! I know for next time though!

I still have to find a place to tap into for this CSI pump. Gotta search on what relay to get too.

Re: What to pull to keep injectors from firing?

Like I said, I tapped into the pink wire at the coil and used a 30amp fog light type relay. It works really well. I guess the "downside" is that the pump comes on as soon as the key is on, so its running while the engine is cranking, but as long as youve got a good battery (Im running an Optima) it shouldnt be an issue.
