what is this (pics in side)
i shattered mine while removing my heads. I gave it gentle pressure after loosening with a wrench and bam the black part ripped off. (mine did not have that heat sleeve like in the pic above.) Anybody know where to get one cheap? I was wondering if I should go with a mechanical gauge at this point.

In addition to the switches being mounted in different locations in early vs late model LT1's, the switches themselves are different aren't they? I know the switch in that pic appears to be different than the switch I replaced at the rear of my block behind the intake.
Aren't the two oil ports in place on all LT1's, allowing for the use of either switch, regardless of year. You would just have to mess with the wiring, and get the different switch, if you wanted to move it from its stock location?
