I assume it has to do with the EGR, which I no longer have and switched off btw using tunercat. Can I just unplug it and remove?

EGR solenoid. It can go away.

Thanks. I guess the "round" thing that I removed from the back of the intake was called the diaphram then.

Also known as the egr valve.
