What The Perfect Cam For My Lt1

Well I have a 94 camaro LT1 with CAI,373grs,posi,built racing tranny, exhaust with cutout and hi flow cat,100shot wetkit, pulleys,Hyperthec 3, and I think that all I have. Well I want a wild cam that gonna be right and that does not requires tuning. If if have to change some parts on the head it okay but dont want with that need TUNING BAD. Let me know what the right one for me.

whats your idea of a wild cam that gunna be right? I see you have cats, do you have emissions to deal with? and why dont you want tuning, you'll pretty much never get the full potential out of a cam without some tuning.

oh wait, i see you're in cali, you got some tough emissions over there.

I don't know to much about the subject, but since no one else has said anything yet-- The people around here have reported of picking up at least 20hp with tuning after a cam or heads/cam, or new motor, etc.

I can't think of a reason not to get a car with a aftermarket cam tuned.

Anyone who knows more about tuning want to chime in?

I'll just say this:

Rethink your thought process' and motivation on this. You're in CA, which is already tough on emissions. Throw a "wild" cam in the car (which by the way is open to pretty much anyone's opinion) and then run it without tuning??? Not gonna happen. The car won't run right and definitely won't pass emissions. A well tuned car has a better chance of passing the sniffer than an untuned one.

About the biggest you're going to be able to get away with in CA is going to be the Hotcam, CC305, or XE 224/230 on a 114 LSa. I honestly believe that's about as big as you can go and still get by.

Why go through all the time/money/effort of a cam swap and then not get it tuned? You'll be leaving untapped power on the table, it won't run as smoothly as it could, and your mileage will probably be crap.

Do it right, pcmforless did my tune with this cam and got 12.8 a/f. That's $$ very well spent!

SJBlackZ28, let me know what you end up with? I'm in CA as well, and you do know that the smog testing just got worse this year. Got my car smogged recently, and it had to go onto a Dyno. No more sitting in P and revving. Not sure, but I think the emissions levels might have been tightened up as well. So, you've passed smog with the hi-flow cat?

Please update if you do end up with a new cam and if you passed smog....inquiring minds want to know....
