Lightbulb What PCM tune to go with

I have a 94 Z28 A4 and am looking to do a PCM tune. The car is pretty much stock with a LT4 KM, cat back exhaust, and a home made CAI. I want more power from the car, but dont have that much money to go all out it. headers cam heads as of right now. My first question is with my setup would I benefit from the tune & how much? Would it be worth it on a practicaly stock vehicle? How much does one cost normally? Who should i send it out to? Also, what exactly is done to the PCM and will it be friendly if i do modifications later on? Thanks!

There are great reviews both from Ion @ www.madz28.com and Brian I think it is at www.pcmforless.com

Do a search on both on the forums, and go with who you feel comfortable with.

PCMforless.com with unlimited tuning . Even though my car's ony has the basic bolt-on's, I could still feel the difference with the tune in.

Later

Yeah i am torn between the two....with a stock behicle do they pretty much perform the same things, Ie. Trans changes for the A4, and same power increases?

You might want to check with Alvin from PCMforless, he will be able to tell you what him or Brian will do to the car.

His name on here is ROOSTER93V8

I had ion do mine a couple of months ago and couldnt be happier. I have a high stall and I would hit the rev limiter on every 2-3 shift. He converted it over to a OBD 2 pcm and it has yet to hit the limiter. I think it would be a little of a waste to do it to a stock car. Wait til you do gears or somethin.

I use pcmforless and am very happy, had some other dealings with Ion at madz28 and would not hesitate to use him either, both offer unlimited updates so why not get it now, it will be worthwhile and then when you do get gears the tuning will be free. I think Ion is a tad cheaper but Bryan is in PA, so chances are VERY good you could meet him face to face and have him load it in your car for you so no shipping and you wont have to get a cable right away. Either way you can't go wrong.

I've heard great things about both pcm4less and Madz28. On a stock car you should expect around 10 hp.

Don't be afraid to look for used headers though. Alot of people who sell them already have them sand blasted and painted black. I just picked up a pair and y-pipe for $225 shipped, so its definately doable. Good luck!

I used pcmforless for my boltons and now I'm going to use him for my head and cam package. The first tune worked well. He takes care of his customers.

I think Ion guarantees 13rwhp on a stock car with his tune. I plan to go with him. I've heard great things about both PCMforless and MadZ28, go with either and I'm sure you'll be happy.
