what is this part?

I hear a weird noise.. Sort of like a bad bearing sound. I took it to the mechanic and he is not 100% this is the problem. He says the compressor is good and so is the alternator. And the noise comes from that area..

But im what that part is. Is that some sort of pump?

Thanks in advanced

The pulley behind the hose is the drive pulley for the power steering pump.

Might also want to check the idler pulley. Easy to do. Just take the belt off and spin it by hand. If the pulley feels like it has any slop or makes any noise then you will know it is bad. Plus if I remember they aren't too expensive.

You are right .. I'm going to try that first. I already using a small hose to detect the noise but i cant hear the noise through the hose on the alternator, idler pulley, steering pump...

I'm going to try what you are suggesting first and ill go from there.
