What oil?

Hey guys, I'm new to the LT1 world. Need to change the oil on the beast. But the previous owner didn't let me know what type of oil he used, though I highly doubt he used synthetic. My 97 T/A has 68k on it. What type of oil & filter should I use on her? Note that she resides in South West Florida heat. Thx for the help

Re: What oil?

Abolutely no reason not to go ahead and switch to synthetic now....at least you can stop the wear from here on.

Well many many many people will bash what I use, but I am a fan of the fram filter, use it on my car, truck, and motorcycle...

Re: What oil?

I use olive oil in mine and when I check it I lick the dip stick, because it is supposed to be good for you.

Re: What oil?

Kroger store brand oil and some cotton ***** taped up with duct tape for the filter. My uncle's half brother works at Kroger and he swears by 'em.

Re: What oil?

I like to spray about 10 aerosol cans of WD40 in the oil dipstick tube (careful, don't overfill) and use a hollowed out fram filter casing for extra flow.

This is the only type of thread you'll hear me say this about, so live it up while it lasts- USE THE [ EDIT ] SEARCH FEATURE!!! I see a "what oil should I use" thread every single time I log on. What's even more frustrating is when someone asks the question, gets prompted to run Mobil 1, Castrol or the like, them comes back on and says "well I ordered some Amsoil because the salesperson said it was better". Use the search feature, you'll see what's good and what's not- and you won't get smartass responses like the one I gave you.

As a general rule, never talk about politics, religion or OIL.
