What is this noise???

Hello I have a 1995 camaro z28 M6 that I recently put a used motor in it. The motor I put in it has 112,000 miles and the only reason I put this other moter in is because I got it from the running car for 400 bucks. I did all the work at my high school auto shop.

While I had the engine on a stand I put a new oil pump and pick-up on.

So I start it up and it starts almost instantly but upon comming down to its normal idle I hear what apears to be a lifter that is not pumping up.

I decided to run it for A while and now the engine has developed a slight miss at idle, and it is smooking like hell out of the exhaust white smoke so it is burning oil.

Today I changed the oil and put some of that lucas oil stabilizer.
After letting it idle for about 20 minutes the noise seemed to quiet a little

when I raise the idle to about 2500RPM the noise usually dissapears or significantly quiets.

I also tried to adjust the passenger side lifters because thats were the noise seems to be comming from but when I loosen the rockers until the point of clacking it is a different noise.

What do you guys think of this.

thanks, will

Re: What is this noise???

I had a noise that sounded kind of like that but it ended up being one of my spark plugs was loose and the metal heat shield around it was tapping agianst the cylinderhead. it was a relativly easy fix considering i was planning on much bigger things to fix it.
