What Next????
I have a '93 Z-28 with 76,000 miles on it (give or take some) and have the following mods on it: K&N Cold Air Induction, Edelbrock headers, MSD 6AL ignition box, removed cat, and flowmaster muffler. My friend has a '97 Cobra with an h-pipe and flowmasters and wants to race me. What type of modifications should I get next to ensure that I can beat him?
Hmmm...well...that cobra is going to have a 4.6 DOHC so it will be decently quik. Maybe some more boltons. Such as 58mm TB, port your mass air flow sensor and remove its screen. Are the headers long tubes? I suggest longtubes to all and by the way, a flowmaster muffler is a very restrictive muffler, unless its the single chamber and even then Borla, SLP ect. make less restrictive mufflers. Do plugs and wires to make sure your firing good(hehe that's a pain in the butt). Of course there are the Intake Mani./Cam/Heads to do, but those are not cheap, nor easy.
If you've got a TB and ported mass air, u should be ok
Good luck.

Do not go with a bigger TB....you're motor is basically stock, and many people have reported a loss of HP when adding a bigger TB when they're pretty stock.
I say a cutout should gain you 10 HO or so, not bad for $50.....

The 58mm TB won't do anything unless you are getting a cam and heads, or a supercharger. You will also have to port your intake manifold if you get the 58mm TB. Don't waste your money on ported MAF ends or the TB. Just get some plugs and wires, a cat-back. I think you should be able to hang with that Cobra if you get traction. I would get some SFC's and relocation brackets for some traction. Remember many races are won off the line.
yeah i'd look into the FPR, since it's not the finiky obd2 you should be able to squeeze out a good 10+ hp on fp alone.
also second the cutout. you mention a flowmaster mufler, does that mean the cat back or just the muffler? if so you should definatly get a 3" cat back and install a cutout. since you have headers you would be seriously chokeing the exhaust if using the non-mandrel bent 2.75" exhaust.
i would also look into anything to aid traction, LCA's with maybe relocation brackets and posssibly a polygraphite torque arm bushing.

Yep. Definitely smaller gears and traction as well. I don't see why I ended up waiting so long to get my 160* tstat, it's a reassuring feeling to look down at the temp gauge in traffic to see that you're still running cool.
You'll love the gears and I think the 1.6 rr's will give you a decent gain.

. Isn't it time to do a cam on it? Just my 2 cents worth.
