what are my options..

After a heads/cam upgrade I realized I forgot to put the Air Pipe back in. Dam.. I would prefer to not take the front end of the motor all apart if I do not have to.. The car is going in for a tune Monday and I have been thinking about some options and wanted some feeback..

1.) Cut the pipe somewhere in the middle so I can easily feed up each side of the motor then fuse back together w/ metal coupler & copper permatex or rubber hose and some hose clamps.

2.) Plug off the Air pipes and have the tuner “tune them out”

3.) Take off all the stuff in the way and just do it..

Also I cannot find where the vacuum line on the Air Pipe sensor terminates, I looked at shbox drawings and cannot find it..

Re: what are my options..

The service procedure is actually to cut the pipe in the middle and join it back together with rubber hose and clamps.

You might find your vacuum hose info here.

Re: what are my options..

I am at work checking out the link Rob and am not sure where the vacuum line goes.

The upper left hand illustration sort of looks like it goes somewhere on a fitting off the upper A.I.R. pump line.

The lower right illustration sort of looks like it could go to a fitting on the intake?

Does your car have the recall components added?

Re: what are my options..

I am not sure Fred how can I tell? I am trying to understand the illustrations Rob sent.

Looks like the bottom illustrations OMIT the “bleed valve” that is on the A.I.R. Pipe and in the top illustrations looks like vacuum line from the “bleed valve” connect to a fitting on the A.I.R. outlet hose?

There was a little piece of vacuum hose on the “bleed valve harness” that was really dry and cruddy almost like “broke off” and was not pulled off..

My son helped me a lot w/ this project and put the Air Pump on the other night so I do not recall what the shut off valve or A.I.R. pump outlet hose looks like..

We started taking this apart months agao and I do not recall unplugging a vacuum line from the bleed valve I would remember if it broke off when I took it apart and would have made a mental note to pick up some vacuum hose..

Re: what are my options..

Most of the items in the AIR recall components diagrams are merely what they used on the later years (because the later ones were built after the recall was done for the earlier ones).
