what motor to go with?

Hey.
I am buying an lt1 longblock with 70000 miles on it. I want to stirp it to the block and completely rebuild it. The problem I have, is I don't know what size to go with. I want somthing around 400. I am hoping to get about 550 hp and about that much torque out of it. What s a good size of motor for me? I want somthing that I can find cheap parts for. I was thinking 396 or a 406. What do you guys think?

Well to get 550hp you're gonna have to NOT use cheap parts. At least if you want it to be any sort of durable. Use forged pistons, crank and rods. I hope this is not a daily driver otherwise it's gonna be pretty tough to get 550hp NA out of it...we need more info...

Also if it's a A4 car you'll loose even more hp at the wheels

Hey.
No, its an M6. I forgot to mention, I want to go with a a mild supercharger or turbo. What is a good size motor? Somthing that is easy to find parts for.
