Every time I pull the plugs to look at them after changing something on the engine or feeling a misfire, I stick new ones in. Autolite 104's. Cheap, and I can't see reusing the old ones. Once I quit messing with the motor, I'll go once every year or 2, which would be 3000-6000 miles.

How often do OEMs change plugs on dynomometer durabaility engines where they get a workout? Do they still do "before and after" power runs on durability engines? It seems to me that 3-6K is like 3K oil changes, a waste of money, but I'm cheap and lazy.

I come from the "If it ain't broke.." school. We used to try to design for the guy who did minimum-to-no PM on his car. A few of us espoused the philosophy "The average normal guy is a dumbsh*t." We designed for him. Very non-PC but a useful philosophy.
