What makes them cheaper?

Was looking through the exhaust systems on tbyrnemotorsports and wasnt totaly sure why some were so expensive... I mean the slp loudmouth has no muffler and is probably the least restrictive and most likely has the largest hp increase along with the borla correct? (maybe im wrong in assuming this), but there are some others selling for way more, maybe the sounds they give or the muffler they use or the brand name makes them cost more?? And there is the hooker catback which is probably the cheapest ive seen, but what about it makes it so cheap?...

the good old fashioned concept of supply and demand my friend!!
one exhaust over the other is about price and quality. An exhaust that lasts the life of your car is a great idea but sooner or later you will replace it. I watch people buy an exhaust and then change it then change it again and so on and so forth. You can always find one more or cheaper then the next but go with what you know and decide for yourself.

Price really doesn't have anything to do with the horsepower gain, you could get a $30 cutout and make just as much power as a $700 catback. How much it costs is usually depends on whether or not it's stainless steel and what the exhaust tips look like.

Take Random Technologies Cat-Back system for example. Offered in stainless steel and Aluminized steel. Stainless goes for $500-600 and aluminized goes for about $300-350. Both are excellent systems with the straight through muffler design, and both offer really nice HP gains, but the material is where the cost is. Also research and development has a lot to do with it.

Never thought that would make such a difference... well is there a sound difference in stainless vs. aluminized?

There isn't a sound difference.

Just curious some metals absorb sound differently I thought, Im guessing aluminized rots away after a while though right?
