what are the LT1 bottlenecks?

On motor alone it makes 336rwhp with stock heads and a very tight 3000 stall converter.

That's true. I made that assumption when I mentioned cam and exhaust. However it does need to be mentioned to swap out the springs and rockers before a cam change.
