Check the back of the intake manifold on the passenger side and feel for oil. These cars are notorious for this intake manifold leak.

This is the main thing that you want to look for. You should also check all the other main gaskets of the engine like the timing, head, rear main, ect. Also ask about any work(major) done to it. One of the big things that I'd look for is mods. On the good side, you don't have to do them. On the bad side, I'd bet it's been ran much harder than a non-modded Z. Just my opinoin.

Check out my web site at the bottom of the page their is a buyers guide for buying an LT1 fbody. The one in the article was a 94, pretty much the exact same as a 95.

Thanks guys. Well i looked at it and it ain't perfect but thats to be expected. It has no aftermarket parts, stock wheels, original exhaust and everything. it has 123,000 miles on it. didn't see any leaks either. engine runs smooth and strong, transmission is good. And it rides smooth with just a bit of pull to the right but it had a low tire. It has power windows and power door locks and leather interior. The only thing wrong with it is its missing the passenger door mirror and the passenger power window swicth doesn't work, and the center console hinge is broke. And theres a small dent in the rear quarter panel. The salesman said he would give me $2000 for a trade in on the old 84 Z. So for $3700 I think its a good deal. What do you all think? I'll be going to get it tomorrow. Tonight will be a long night at work.

It's not a bad deal, see if there are any unusual noises coming from the engine-rocker arm noise, water pump noise (bearing), and most importantly, rod/piston noise. Some of these cars will be noisy when started if it is colder out, but you can definitely tell if there is any rod knock (believe me I know).
Also look for things that may need to be done in the near future-are the plug wires original? Have the plugs been changed? If not, you are looking at 3 hrs work and 100 beans to do that. Also, you will want to change all of the fluids, and go with synthetics preferably-even if the dealership says that they just did everything. It's a simple case of CYA (cover your a**). Also, stupid things like wipers can get spendy, so factor all of that in when you buy it. My .02
