couple rebuild questions

hey guys,

i just purchased a 96 LT1 shortblock. after dis-assembly i noticed that i had some dis-coloration on the crank bearings and a lil...and i mean lil silver dots once and a while.

does this mean i "spun" a bearing?

the motor turned freely and didn't knock at all. i'm turning the block into a 355 c.i.d with a stock (hope i can polish) crank and stock rods. i'm using speed pro forged .030 pistons and speed pro bearings, freeze plugs, etc.....

i bought the summit kit yesterday for 539 $ good deal if ya ask me, anyways.... if there are no deep scratches and just dis-coloration on the bearings... will my crank be okay? or will heat from that "dis-coloration" be a problem with my crank?

thanx

I would take it to a machine shop and have them polish it up. It's only about $25. They can tell you if it is usable.
