what lifters to buy?
what lifters to buy?
when doing a head/cam swap,,well actually ported and polished heads,,what lifters should i get? is there an actuall "performance gain" from like comp ones, to new gm ones?
Just get the Comp "R" ones. They're really nice, proven lifters. I beleive stock GM ones are rated to only about 6200-6300 RPM.
Lifters are a crucial valvetrain component. I'd buy the right ones if I were you.
- Comp "R" lifter owner.
PS. When I did the cam install some months ago, new GM lifters didn't cost SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the comp "R"'s, or at least not enough to justify buying them.
I remember seeing some good deals on ebay. Don't know if they still sell them there.

Don't remember...
I did the lash the first time and I think I went 1/4 turn over. Then INTMD8 at Speed Inc did it the second time and I think he went 1/8 turn over... PM him directly, I'm sure he'll be happy to help.

There have been NUMERUS threads on here about people having problems with COMP "R"'s. I'm talking about reliability problems. As far as performance, I haven't seen any sustantial proof where they're any better than regular lifters.
So, my thoughts were...Why pay so much more for a lifter that isn't any better, and doesn't last as long?
