I think this is the cam I want to go with but I never see anyone mention any lift nubers. They always just call it the xe 224/230. Is this cam always have the same lift? What is it? I was told if I go to a cam over .500 lift, I would have to do some machine work on the heads to make it work. Is this true?

There are several lifts available with the 224/230 duration. You can take your pick. Most people are talking about the cam listed in the Comp Cams catalog as "503" in the LT1/4 section. The lift is something like .510/.520. Look in their catalog for the exact numbers. You can custom order a cam with a 224/230 duration and various lifts up to around .600 if you want. You can also look on Combination Motorsports' website www.cmotorsports.com. They have a whole variety of Comp Cams XE line. I think there are four different variations on the 224/230.

The lift numbers of the "CC503" XE224/230 are .503/.510 with stock ratio rockers and .536/.544 with 1.6 rockers.

 

Will the valve guides need to be machined to use 1.6 rockers with the "cc503 (.536/.544)"?
