What are the largest heads you can have while retaining the LT1 intake?

So I have fully ported by TPIS AFR 180 heads on my setup in my sig. The cars power level is great, but I always felt bad knowing that the smaller 180 heads are ristricting the setup with the very large cam I am running as well as the blower.

I have considered getting bigger heads before, but most of the large heads I look at require an LT4 intake, and then its a domino effect from there, (more power equals changing this, and then this and on and on) to the point it brings the car to a new level I really don't want, as it is a street car and I love its characteristics and don't need/want something that is 900 RWHP.

Long story short here, what are the largest set of heads you can get (and manufacturer) and still keep the LT1 intake?

George Baxter (still #6 on the list of fastest LT1's - 10 years after the fact) ran a set of Canfield heads that I believe flowed about 330CFM, with an LT1 intake. The Vortech S/C'd 383 made 1,125HP at the flywheel.

That was a set of Canfield LTx heads, that were heavilly modified by George and Second Street Speed.

You can modify the LT1 intake to run the larger heads, but specifically I was looking for aftermarket heads that did not require modification to the LT1 intake, so the 227's will not work as a direct bolt in.

HYeavily worked TFS castings are probably a great improvement over your AFR 180 heads.

Depends on how you define "modify"? I would port match stock LT1 head to the stock LT1 manifold if I had the engine apart. Don't consider this modifying.

Simply put, you cannot use AFR 227's with the stock LT1 intake, as in you can install the heads, and put the factory LT1 intake as it was from the factory on the AFR 227's and have it work.
