Hey all of you out there. I want to hear your opinions on what is better for performance a SS air box or a SLP or K&N cold air intake system or any other cold air intake system. I need to find something soon. Anything for sale please post. Thanks

Well from what i have seen on here is that most prefer the cold air intake over the ss ram air.I have the SLP CAI and am very happy with it.

I also back the SLP CAI. Easy to install, looks good, performs great.

I'd also like to know the answer to this question, someone here has got to know which performs better.
The thing about the SS ram air, it sits right on top, an aftermarket cool looking TB plate would be useless, and I don't think you'd be able to install a shocktower brace either, it would get in the way.

You have to make modifications to the ss air box but it will flow just as well as the cai's, nothing real hard to do and its free!
I take it from your comments that you don't own a SS.
yes, You can still see the TB plate and yes you can still get a shock tower brace for a SS. BMR makes one as well as many others.

get an LPE CAI. Best deal out there in my opinion. I was runnin a homemade CAI for a long time. It worked great. I started dressin up the engine bay a lil and jus decided it didnt look "professional" enough so I got the LPE. They all perform about the same. The K&N filter on the LPE is HUGE. I have heard the FIPK has a mighty large one too. The Moroso, even though it is popular. has a much smaller filter.

I own an 97 SS, in my opinion, either one will work!
you are getting a better direct air flow from both...just how much money are you going to spend is what the question is. Anything is better over that stock air box.
FYI: I know when I get up to about 90mph, my ram air is very effective.
