Alum. or copper are good choices even the GM metal shim is good too. Had no leaks with the GM one............fel-pro thas a different story. Steven

The felpro's suck. If you plan on taking the headers off then the metal and copper gaskets are reusable.

What are most people using with Hooker shorties? I'm installing mine in the next couple of weeks along with my converter and want to make sure that I have everything that I need before hand.

I'll help with what not to use. Do buy the earl's gaskets there complete junk. They have fiber insterts that will crumble before you even get the header on.

Man im really not trying to be a **** here, but might want to look into another set of shorties. People always seem to hate those. I dont have any personal experience with them, but from what i read they dont make much power, PITA to install, and plug access sucks. Might want to do a little research and make a final decision before you waste a weekend installing them.

Thanks for the info, but I bought em last year in a GP from Jet Hot. Hopefully they'll be better for me than they have been for others.
