Heater

How long does it take your car's heater to actually heat up?? I don't know what's wrong with mine, but I drove for about 20 minutes, and it still wasn't very warm, let it sit for about 2 hours, and drove it again for about another 25 minutes, but this time when I got home it finally got pretty hot. I don't know...it just seems to take a really long time to heat up...any ideas??

I would try backflusing your heater core. A lot of junk gets built up in there and would affect the efficiency of it.

Do a search on "flushing", "heater" and you will find plenty of info on how to flush the heatercore. Pretty simple process. Took me about an hour last year and I had to do it again this year and only took me 20 minutes start to finish.

ok, so basically disconnect the hoses from the firewall and run a hose through both of them a few times....right?? What about coolant..how much would I need to put back in? do I need to worry about air getting in there or anyting???

I found this method on this thread a little easier if you have a STB.

just removed my heater core last weekend or so and not much coolant drop out. Just make sure you turn the hoses up as soon as you pull them.
