No, there is no need for locktite on the maniflod bolts. If anything it would cause them to mess up the threads the next time you took them out.. The little band is something that isn't neccesary in the function of the injector. Not quite sure what it is, but some of mine fell off and they still work the same.

Yeah you will be ok, but the bolts come loose overtime since the manifold is made of aluminum and that expands/contracts at different rates then the block. It would have been a good idea to use it since it would prevent the bolts from becoming loose. Just check the torque on them in about a week to be safe.

What you should have put on them is thread sealant. The holes are not blind holes and they go into the area of the head inside the valve cover. Sealant will keep any oil from migrating up the threads. You probably don't have to worry about it though. Of course, you could remove them one at a time and put sealant on them.

Heck, I don't put sealant on, and I don't even bother torqueing them. I tighten them by feel, make 'em good and tight, and I've done this twice with no problems. Now, I definitely wouldn't do this on cylinder heads; that is a pretty critical area.

I try to let people know the recommended way to do things. If they don't want to do that, they don't have to, but at least they know. I realize that you don't always have to follow directions, but when it comes to putting engines together, it is a good idea.

It's not bothering Janny, so it may not bother you. IMO, the sealant is a precaution that you should take during installation. I would not worry about it at this point.

And it is a GOOD thing that you do this, Shoebox. I was merely trying to offer comfort from the knowledge that there some things that you can get away with, and that what he did would be highly unlikely to cause a problem.
