Re: What the heck is with this!!

On many headers, the #1 primary is a seperable, slip fit tube. That way you can install the headers around the steering shaft.

sounds like hooker forgot to zip-tie his first primary to the other ones on the flanges lol, i wandered the same thing myself till i spotted the zip-tie they're made that way. You'll love the hookers once you get em on... i know i did!

That's pretty good. I wondered the same thing, but I didn't think they were cracked in half.

Wouldnt that slip fit design make a huge exhaust leak. It does not fit in there snug at all

The slip fit on my AS&M's was very loose and they didn't leak a bit.

Re: What the heck is with this!!

Just a heads up. Hooker has been very poor about the slip fit joint. The is excessive slop which does cause a leak. Just a heads up. I was not please with the shotty work by Hooker.

Go JET-HOT! My slip fit has never leaked.

The Jet-Hot header is identical to the Hooker, but with the Jet-Hot coating.

Re: What the heck is with this!!

If you thought those were "cracked" and broken.. I'm not sure you're qualified to install them.

No offense, but it's pretty clear they're not broken when you take them out of the package, c'mon now.

I'm not sure how a carbed car would have made this any easier...

Re: What the heck is with this!!

Alot of "carb" cars come with slip fit headers if you get the big tubes, or to go around things easier. Heck my brothers '93 5.0 had slip fit and they are only 1 5/8! My old man has a 67 GTO w/2 in and they come in pieces!
