I want to get about 500RWHP. I also plan on going with a 383 or 396. The cam will depend on the heads.

LOL; unfortunately, that's really what it boils down to.
How fast do you want to spend?

I don't think ported GM LT1 castings will net 500rwhp (N/A).
I'm not familiar with aftermarket castings, but there are people
on this board who are. You can also try contacting people who
port heads for a living (AFR, ePortworks, CHS, etc ...). They'll
be able to give you an honest estimate on which aftermrket castings get
you where and even help you have a cam designed that will get
you as much power as possible out of your setup.

I think I've heard a lot of talk about people running ported Trickflow heads
and putting down some hardcore N/A numbers.

She'll be a high-revving monster for sure.

My vote is for a set of AFR's. My buddy just got his Trick Flows fully ported and they did over 300 CFM, and didn't cost as much as you might think, so that would be my sencond recommendation.

 

Brettinator just make 493 through some afr 210's i believe on a 396.. Ported of course..

Would not call this a street car though, but it is the only NA stock management LT1 I can think of at the power level.
